Gibby - Social Commerce

Overview

In general, e-commerce platforms offer product management features. However, this feature requires a high level of detail and accuracy to assist sellers in inputting accurate product information that meets the needs of buyers, sellers, and businesses. Despite this, Gibby has not fully implemented the CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) process due to the vast amount of information required, resulting in many products having issues when displayed. Consequently, we aim to simplify the process of adding and updating products for sellers in this project, enabling buyers to easily locate the products they require. As product designers, we will ensure that this feature is user-friendly and effective in helping both sellers and buyers maximize their shopping experiences on the e-commerce platform.

Deep dive into the problem

The C-Level and business team have initiated a plan to transition our current personal shopper (Jasa Titip) business model into Social Commerce, which will entail a new branding and color scheme. Our product evaluation has revealed several areas in need of improvement, such as the lack of visibility in our shipping tracking and the need for clarification on metrics for our store rating system. The management of products has also been unclear, particularly with regards to creating, reading, updating, and deleting them. Additionally, our order process needs improvement in regards to product and payment, with cancellation being a particularly sensitive issue. Unfortunately, the cancellation order step was unavailable. Despite encountering incomplete documentation from previous stakeholders, we made an effort to understand the product concepts despite our limited knowledge.

The Goals

What’s the Goal of the design?

  • Primary goal
Simplify the process of adding and updating products for sellers in this project, enabling buyers to easily locate the products they require.

  • Secondary goal
New design system will bring important improvements to our user experience & new business model.

Heuristic evaluation

We conducted a thorough evaluation of the screens to ensure that every step was well-defined and to identify areas that needed improvement and updated to design system V2 & new business model.

The Approach

Discover and evaluate all possible solutions

Hypothesis

Best case:

  • The management of products has also been clear, particularly with regards to creating, reading, updating, and deleting product

  • The new design system will bring important improvements to our user experience

  • Impact on the user's ability to successfully launch new products

Worst case:

  • The user is experiencing confusion with managing their products

  • Onboarding needed

  • This confusion is having an impact on the user's ability to successfully launch new products, making the process more difficult for them

How it would work:

We’ll start with defining the ideal experience across the various steps in our existing flow: The journey will start from the dialog profile menu and then to my store pages.

Idea Concept & Flows

Now that we have decided on an approach, time to discover various possible flows.

Conclusion

The project's success heavily relies on asking for feedback. In hindsight, I realized that if I could change one thing, it would be to ask for feedback earlier in the process by presenting only one page before and after the redesign. This would have allowed me to get a better feel for the direction before proceeding with the other pages.

Little research is better than no research at all

Engaging in some desk research prior to starting the design work proved to be invaluable. It allowed me to understand the benefits and drawbacks of the design, as well as the significance of the requested feature. Without conducting this research, I may have naively proceeded with the redesign as requested by the stakeholder without thoroughly considering all aspects.
